The Biology Chick

Hi, I’m Diana. A Midwestern girl at heart, I was born and raised in Indiana. My path has been shaped by curiosity, compassion, and a deep desire to help others feel well. My healthcare journey began in my early twenties on Long Island, NY, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Bioscience Research and discovered my love for understanding how the body works.

I spent several years in dentistry—supporting general, endodontic, and orthodontic practices, and even volunteering in a dental lab. It was there that I first learned about sleep apnea and the powerful connection between oral anatomy and sleep. That spark eventually led me into the world of sleep medicine.

After graduating in 2008, I joined a durable medical equipment company where I delivered and set up prescribed equipment and educated patients. That experience opened the door to polysomnography, and I went on to train as a sleep technologist and earn my RPSGT credential. I later opened and managed two sleep labs in the Tampa Bay area and taught in the Polysomnography program at Central Florida Institute—work that allowed me to support patients, mentor students, and deepen my understanding of restorative sleep. I went on to also work at Tampa General Hospital Sleep lab and Lung Associates of Sarasota (Now Sarasota Memorial Sleep Lab) because I enjoy working with patients and the nightshift coworkers are FUN!

Life transitioned again when I became a mother at 35 and 37. My second C‑section was much harder to recover from, and by my early forties, my family history of high cholesterol and blood sugar began showing up in my own labs. I was exhausted, my hair was thinning, my clothes didn’t fit, and despite intense exercise and hiring a fitness coach, nothing was changing. I knew there had to be more to the story.

That’s when I took my health education into my own hands. I was inspired by a book called How to Get Well by Dr. Frank Lipman, M.D. and started the "How to Be Well" book club offering in‑person and online discussions with a nurse practitioner from a successful wellness clinic where I had been an HRT patient. I loved every minute of these discussions about the science and spirituality of healing our body. With her encouragement, I enrolled in IFN Academy, where I found a rich blend of holistic and Western wellness philosophies rooted in physiology, nutrition, and lifestyle patterns. It changed everything.

This journey has shaped the way I support others today. I would love to hear your story—because your experiences hold the clues we use to build a lifestyle foundation that empowers your choices in sleep, nourishment, movement, and daily habits. My goal is that as life evolves, you’ll have these tools you can return to again and again to stay aligned with your personal wellness path.
